PATAX Patax is currently the most prominent fusion band in Spain, and already a project known throughout the world. With more than 100,000 followers on Facebook and 24 million views on YouTube, Patax continues on an unstoppable path.
Drawing on the legacy of Jazz legends such as Weather Report, Corea's Elektric Band, Herbie Hancock, or Zawinul Syndicate, and without hiding the powerful influence of the visionary proposals of Irakere, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Enrique Morente, Hermeto Pascoal and Paco de Lucía, PATAX takes the “Fusion” concept to completely unexplored territory, where the communication between Flamenco, Funk, jazz and Afro-Cuban Rhythms is the key to its complex, explosive and magical atmospheres.
It's surprisingly atypical to see a percussionist taking on the role of composer and leader of a large-format band. Jorge Perez, a percussionist trained in Madrid, Cuba and graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, is a man after an idea: a new concept in which many a priori unconnected styles coexist, with full awareness of their respective roots and identities, and from a rabidly contemporary perspective. An ambitious goal that requires talent, determination, tenacity... and a group of extraordinary musicians, capable of going where the majority does not know, cannot, or does not dare...
